Hey there! I’m Mila, and my path into cybersecurity wasn’t planned. I actually stumbled into it out of sheer curiosity. I started my career in EdTech, helping others navigate technology without ever truly questioning how secure it all was. That changed the day I found myself facing questions like:
“Can you share your company’s ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certificates?”
“Can we run a penetration test?”
“Can you complete this third-party vendor assessment?”
“How secure are your AI models?”
I could have simply forwarded these to our security team, but that same curiosity took me down the cybersecurity rabit hole and every headline has been a lesson and every new tool, threat, or framework is a story waiting to be explored.
Through Held2Ransom, I share my journey of learning, experimentation, and discovery in cybersecurity from governance, risk, and compliance to the global impact of emerging technologies like AI. The best way to learn is by teaching. Through my journey I hope to translate complex topics into practical insights, and inspire others who are exploring or pivoting into this field.
The blog’s name, Held2Ransom, began as a playful nod to this season of study and transition, but the deeper I go, the clearer it becomes: this isn’t just a pivot. It’s a lifestyle.
